What's the difference between aquaponic and hydroponic gardening?

When is it best to plant herbs?

The ideal time to plant herbs is springtime, when the soil temperature is 55°F. Plant them in full sun for best results. To grow basil indoors you need to place the seedlings inside pots that have been filled with potting soil. Once they start sprouting leaves, keep them out from direct sunlight. Once plants start growing, move them into bright indirect light. After three weeks, you can transplant them to individual pots and water them every day.

Is there enough space in my backyard to grow a vegetable garden.

If you don’t yet have a vegetable gardening, you might wonder if it will be possible. The answer is yes. A vegetable garden doesn't take up much space at all. It just takes some planning. For example, you can build raised beds just 6 inches high. You can also use containers as raised beds. Either way, you'll still get plenty of produce.

What kind of lighting works best for growing plants indoors?

Florescent lights work well for growing plants indoors because they emit less heat than incandescent bulbs. They are also consistent in lighting, and do not flicker or dimm. There are two types of fluorescent bulbs: regular and compact fluorescent (CFL). CFLs consume up to 75% less electricity than traditional bulbs.

What month should I start a vegetable garden?

The best time to plant vegetables are from April through June. This is when soil is at its warmest and plants are growing the fastest. If you live somewhere cold, it is best to wait until July or august.
